In sunrise we drive in Mpalas game drive vehicle into the bush and seek for the area’s population of wild animals. Often they stay in hills where it is warm at night.
Mpala has its own private bush area of approx. 170 ha. The game love to stay in this area. We supply with fresh water to drink and there are grasses of high nutritional value.
When we bought the land it was a ranch with cows, pigs, sheep, chickens and dogs. There were many kilometers of barbed wire fences and a mess of farm buildings, steel structures, old water pipes and vast quantities of waste.
We have done a huge cleanup job, and driven many loads of scrap and waste away.
This paved the way for the whole area to be approved by the Kruger National Park. They took their fence down against our area. Today, the game can walk freely in and out of the area from the Kruger Park. It has had an immense value for our local area.
This land is preserved exclusively for guests at Mpala Safari Lodge.
Here we’ll also go bush walk with our armed guides. This tour is focused on seeing the bigger animals while you walk quietly through the bush.
